Ouran Roleplay

Takuya smiled to see Ahiru finally break out of her funk. He devoured his ice-cream and stared down at his empty hands. Had he really been that hungry? Lately, he had been craving sweet things, but it was starting to get out of hand.

The ball rolled towards them and he stopped it with his foot. A child about ten ran up to them. The rest of the kids stood huddled together seemingly afraid. The child seemed hesitant. When he opened his mouth he had two beaver like teeth.

“Mi pelota,” the boy said. Takuya kicked the ball towards him and the smiled before rushing off towards his friends.

“They are a lot more lively than in Japan,” he commented.

Their driver, Juan, opened the door for the siblings and sped off. Soon the city and buildings fell away and it was only fields and fields for miles. The driver pulled up on a dirt road that lead up to a mansion on a hill. It was a single story house made of light brown bricks. It wrapped around to form a square.

Once outside, Takuya could smell the sea. The driver lead them into the courtyard that was in the center of the mansion. A large fountain with marble birds spat out gallons of water at the base. A mermaid sat on top of the fountain with a jug or vase held on her shoulder. Her eyes were closed and a serene smile graced her lips. She looked awfully familiar.

“It was built for your mother's quince,” Juan told him. “She was always such a beauty. You take after her,” he said to Ahiru.

“Mijo! They're here!” came a yell. From a window, an elderly lady waved energetically. Her dark hair was pinned in a slightly askew bun, and two fringes of hair framed her round face. “Espera ahi!” she yelled before she disappeared behind the shear curtains. Moments later Ahiru and Takuya were swept into her embrace. She squeezed them then pulled back to stare lovingly at their faces.

“Bendicion, abuela,” Takuya said. She slapped him lightly on the cheek.

“Why so cold, just like that man,” she shook her head. “I'm Mama, Takuya, mama.”  Mama then took Ahiru's face in her hands. “Mija, you look so sad. Don't you worry! Mama is going to look after you both.” She squealed then kissed them both on the cheeks.

“Mija, let them rest no, they must be tired after their trip.” Their grandfather came from the same door mama popped out of. He wore a white button-down shirt and white pants made from the same light material. On his feet were sandals. Although his greeting wasn't as warm as mama's, he made sure to look the siblings in the eye after each hug.

“Relax, you're among familia now,” he said and kissed their foreheads.

After being shown their rooms, Mama and Papa gave them a tour of the estate. They drove around in a tiny golf cart. Papa explained the different types of grapes being grown and about wines.

Mama turned around and asked, “How is Guillelmina?”

Takuya blinked and looked to Ahiru who simply shrugged.
“We don't know who that is, abue- mama.”

Papa chuckled, “don't you remember dear? She changed her name, too ashamed of her roots and family.”

“I'm sorry, who are you talking about?”

“Your mother,” mama sighed. “What was that awful name she took up? Francesca? Flora?”

“Francine,” Ahiru said.

Mama grimaced. “She already had such a beautiful name! Ah, such a waste.” She turned in her seat, “I would have given you two Spanish names, at least one of your middle names.”

“One?” The siblings asked.

“What is mother's true name?” Takuya asked.

“Guillelmina Altagracia Almundena Come Torquemada Cabeza de Vaca de la Fuente.”

Takuya bit the inside of his cheek. No wonder, she never mentioned it, he thought.

“Truly a wonderful name, mama,” he said. She beamed.

Papa turned the cart towards a side road, veering away from the mansion on the hill.

“But this is truly the best part,” he gestured towards the beach that ran parallel to the small road. The road descended unto the white sand.

“You picked a perfect time to come,” papa said removing his sandals. “The water's very warm.” He walked hand-in-hand with his wife to the water's edge. Like children, they ran back when the water got to close.

“Like mom,” Takuya whispered. Francine loved to have fun, so much that she left her children alone most of the time. “She's working” was the excuse Edmund would give them, but how was work getting so drunk you didn't know your own children's name?

Work for her was sipping from her glass without spilling any on her designer dresses. “Tch.” Takuya kicked angrily at the sand.

“Vengan!” Mama laughed. “Come on!”
