"Girls! Levantanse, ahora mismo!" Their mother yelled as she banged on the bedroom door. Upon opening she saw both her daughters still snuggled in their beds. She sighed, shook her mane of brown hair and left. Moments later she came in with two large McDonald's cups filled with ice cold water. "My final warning."
"Five more minutes." Her eldest, Xiomara said, pulling the blankets over her head. The mother of two shrugged and dumped the water on her head, then walked over to her second daughter, Rosalinda, on the other side of the room and mimicked the action. The effect was immediate.
"Holy crap Mami!" Xiomara jumped from her bed.
"You're late." She pointed at the clock which read 7:30 am.
"Mom!" The girl whined. "Why didn't you wake us up sooner?" She didn't wait for an answer as she sped to the bathroom.

Xio paused as she noticed a rather large bruise on her stomach. She poked the bluish purple spot but it didn't hurt.
"Cinco minutos!" Her mom yelled from the door. Xiomara shook her head and pulled down her t-shirt. Quickly, and quiet messily, she pulled her hair into two pigtails. She ran down the stairs, almost tripping with her sagging socks. Their mom stood at the door, like its gate keeper, her arms crossed as she glared at her daughters. Her frown melted into a smile as she handed them their bagged lunches, "Mucho cuidado." The girls nodded and rushed out the door.

A block away from the school, the first bell rang. The principal and vice-principals stood watch at the school gate, clipboards ready to dish out detentions. "Crap." Xio whispered as they snuck around back. The eight-foot gate encircled the entire school, but back here by the maintenance sheds, the security was non-existent. As per routine, Rosa bent over with her fingers tightly laced together. Xio placed her foot in her palms. They counted mentally to three and with Rosalinda's boost, Xio grasped the top of the fence. She heaved herself over and turned to catch the backpacks Rosa tossed over. Xio squat down and slipped her hands through the fence to give Rosalinda her boost. Now, safely on the other side they made their way to their first class P.E.

Towards the back of the gym, Rosa gave Xiomara another boost but into an open window. At the top, she scanned the hallway then jumped down. She turned to her right and opened the back door for Rosalinda. From this point on, it was easy to assimilate into the crowd of girls in the locker room. "There you two are. Late again?" Iris, a girl with bright orange hair tied in a loose braid asked giggling. She was already changed into her P.E. gear.
"You know us, Iris." Xio said as she tossed of her clothes. She noticed Iris frowning at her then at Rosa.
"Why are you two covered in bruises?"
"Huh?" Xiomara glanced down at her body. This morning she only had one bruise, now she had several on her arms and legs. "Uh, must have been from climbing the gate."
"Let's move it ladies!" The coach yelled. Xio pushed the matter out of her head and finished dressing.

Rosa looked at the spots that had sprouted up her arms and legs "Damn it I look like a victim of abuse..." she muttered as she pulled on the uniformed shirt and sorts 4 patches of purple bruises decorated her knee's and caves. She counted 2 on her shoulders and forearms and two seemed to be growing on her hands.

Looking to her sister she saw similar discoloration but pushed the though aside as they ran out to join their peers for role call and then the mile run on the track. Out of the corner of her eye she saw the looks the gym teachers gave each other when looking at the twins. "Sis don't look now but I think we are about the get the 'Are your parents hurting you' speech." she said as they finished their run and were cornered by the gym teachers.

After much denying and discussion the teachers let the situation drop. But the sister's were still wanted for weeks and the bruises neither faded nor went away if anything they got worse. the sisters were complaining about back pain as well.

So there they sat in a doctors office waiting for their turn to be called in.

Their doctor, Dr. Alvarez, a short Hispanic woman, eyed the girls with disinterest. She checked the normal things, like their hearing, sight, and reflexes. "I can't find anything wrong with you girls. We are just going to have to wait until your blood work to get back to us." She scribbled something on her pad and gave it to their mother. "This ointment should make the bruises go away or at least make them less noticeable."

Xio slipped off the bench. They had been sitting forever and the pressure in her back was still building up. "But what about the pain?" She rubbed the small of her back and felt a bump. The doctor motioned for her to spin around.

"The pain is here?" She applied pressure right behind her kidneys.
"No here." Xio rubbed the small bump. "I think it got bigger." She felt the doctor's cold hands poke the growing bump and she immediately straightened. "Ms. Flores," she said motioning her mother to a corner of the room. "I'm afraid your daughters might have some form of...cancerous growth. It could be what's causing the permanent bruises but I'm going to need a tissue sample as well." She said in a hushed tone.

"Wait...I, I mean we have...cancer?" Xiomara sank back into the bench, unsure what to think anymore.

Rosalinda turned to her sister and pulled her in for a hug and tried to keep herself strong. "Its gonna be fine Mara we'll be fine." she said as she hugged her sister. Turning to her mother she gave her a hard look that said she wasn't allowed to break down at all. Seeing her mother pull herself together and nod made Rosa relax a bit. They were not going to lie down and take it.

When they got home the girls found themselves laying down on their favorite spot on the floor to relax to get the pain of their back. Rosa was sketching on the floor and Xio was writing on of her stories about something or another.

Their mother came in with new packs of ice for their backs and looked down at the picture Rosa was drawing "What have you got there?" she asked as she watched Rosa finish a figure only to not like how it came out and erase it.

"Just a picture of the family but dad keeps coming out very effeminate I think I'll just leave him out of this one." she said as she drew in his place a Flamboyant tree and started to color everything in.

"That's coming out great, color it in and when dad comes home from the office he can bring it with him to work tomorrow." she said with a smile as Rosa nodded.

"Xio what you working on there?" she asked her other daughter as she switched out the ice bag on her elder daughters back.

"Just another short story, about the new people across the street." Xiomara said. She always liked to watch people and then make stories about them. "The husband is actually an evil mastermind that's living a double life with his wife and family as a cover. But now his arch rival, another villain, has found his home. He already killed the family and is going to set fire to the home to erase all the evidence." She explained as she wrote. Their mom shook her head.
"Why can't you write anything nice, mija?" She stood. "How about some lunch- Dios mio!" She covered her mouth, staring at the window. "The neighbors house is on fire!" She lunged for the telephone ready to mark 911 when it rang. With shaking fingers she answered. "Hello?" A pause. "Yes, this is Mrs. Flores....my husband what?" She dropped the phone.
"Mom?" Xio asked. Their mother was almost in hysterics and it was scaring her.
"Your f-father..esta muerto." She sobbed holding onto her daughter. Somewhere Xio could hear the wail of sirens.

The next 3 days found the girls more miserable than the days prior. The girls found themselves in wheel chairs on the day of their fathers funeral and doped up high on pain medicine to pull through the ceremony. They both sat at the procession with dead eyes while their mother cried the two held each others hand to get though the pain. Rosa just stared at the ground as they put her father in and Xio looked away. Everyone that stood there with them didn't even feel half the pain they did. It wasn't fair. As the ceremony ended and people started leaving Rosa pulled a paper and pencil out of her dress and sketched her fathers grave with flowers sprouting out of the ground and a tree shading the spot.

Turning to her sister she just watched her stare at the spot as her mother talked with everyone else abandoning the two. Her sister took the picture and wrote on the bottom of the page. "...And as he was laid to rest his spirit took away the pain and suffering of his family and the earth around him sprouted to life just like the life he lived. Full, Beautiful, And Comforting." Xio wrote and they folded up the paper and threw it next to the headstone.

The two sat in silence and waited for the crowd to thin out. Eventually their grandmothers came to their side. Silently, they pushed them across the lawn. Xiomara glanced over her shoulder in time to see a sapling growing by their father's headstone. The dirt that was thrown over the grave was already covered in a blanket of blooming flowers, lilies and sunflowers, their father's favorite.

Later that night, Xiomara awoke in a cold sweat. She clenched her covers close to herself as a wave of pain rolled through her body. She muffled her scream in her pillow. After a few minutes, the pain in her backside seemed to subside. She slid out of bed, wanting to splash some cool water on her face when she stumbled forward. She tried to stand but her balance was off. Gravity was not on her side and she fell. It took a few tries before she managed to reach the bathroom. The bright lights momentarily blinded her, but as her eyes swam back into focus she saw thin blue lines etched all over her arms, face and neck. She lifted her shirt to see that the bruises were gone but replaced by those strange markings.

Her hands trembled as she traced one of the marks, her skin was feverishly warm. She jerked suddenly as if someone had stuck an electrified wire in her brain. She fell to her knees, fingers digging into the white counter. It felt like something was crawling beneath her skin, snaking its way from her head to her back. Xio pulled at her hair, clenching her teeth as she tried to ride the pain out.  "Urgh!" She tried clawing at the growing bump, that seemed to have a life of its own. "Get out of my body!" Xio dug her nails deep into her flesh. This thing, this cancer was going to leave her body now. "Arrgh! Nngh." The warm stream of blood seemed to release some of the fire underneath her skin. It was growing. She could feel the length of it sliding across her sleek, wet fingers. She tried to dig deeper, to fight the pain but it overwhelmed her. She lay curled on the tiled floor, sweating and panting as she lost consciousness.

Xiomara felt groggy and drained. Her whole body was lead. Why am I on the floor? She thought, as she struggled to sit up. Something wet and fuzzy brushed her leg and she almost yelled in fright. 'Calm down Xi.' She thought as she used the toilet to lift herself up. Again, it brushed against her leg. Xiomara slapped at it. Hurriedly, she turned on the light, wanting to squish the bug before it touched her again. What stared back at her was not an insect but a long, fuzzy black snake. "Snakes aren't fuzzy. This better not be another of Rosa's pranks." She pulled at the object and gasped in surprise. "Oh...my god." It was attached to her backside. Xio turned it a circle, very much like a dog chasing its own tail. "Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god. This is not happening. Not happening." She slapped her face. "Crap this is real. And I..have a tail." Xio ran to her and Rosa's room. Strange things have been happening since the bruises showed up. She needed to know that she wasn't going crazy.

Rosa was tossing and turning on her bed gripping at her sheets. Rosa could feel pain in her ears and back. Not wanting to wake the house she gripped her pillow tight and bit into it. She felt like the pain was rushing from her head to her backside. Kneeling on the bed she curled into a fetal position whimpering griping her ears she started tugging at them wanting to release the pressure in her head. Digging her nails into the base of her ears she could feel the pressure building like something was going to break. Something was pushing through near her ears and she felt like all she could hear was the thumping of her body pushing blood through her veins. Biting into her pillow she let out a painful scream as white hot fire ripped through her body and she ripped at her ears. She blacked out from the pain falling boundlessly into her bed.

Hearing the sound of the door opening Rosa blinked at the shape of her sister coming into the room "Xio...." she murmured sitting up she felt something brush against her leg and knocked it away and winced feeling a pain. moving her hand to her backside she felt something fuzzy and it moved. Not knowing what it was she yanked at it in surprise only to freeze up and yelp. Freaking out she grabbed it again and pulled it softly finding it was firmly attached to her body. "t..t...tail....I have a tail." she gasped out turning to her sister in shock only to get a good look at her. "Xio....what are those on your head?" she whispered out in shock.

"D...Demons...she thinks...We...Look like demons." she whimpered looking at her sister sadly her new ears seemed to droop as she looked to her sister she felt horrible but the only plus to this was the pain was gone.

Focusing on her sister she could see the differences in skin tone and the new appendages. "Are we...mutants?" she asked as she reached out and touched one of her sisters ears. Feeling it twitch out of reflex she moved to sit back on her bed when she touched a sticky substance. Looking down she could see a mess of blood and some flesh. "No wonder she thinks we are demons!" Feeling sick she started ripping the sheets off her bed quickly happy none of the blood made it to the mattress.

Turning to her mother sprawled out on the floor she inched to her slowly "Ma...mami...are you alright?" she asked slowly and softly walking to her and gently touched her shoulder "Mami is me... Rosalinda." she said looking down at her not wanting to spook her. There been enough drama in this house to last a lifetime.

Rosa looked to her sister and growled at the stubbornness that was her mother. "Coñjo!" she yelled as she started pushing against the door only get frustrated when the furniture wouldn't budge. "MAMI! Nos dejó salir!" she yelled thumping her hand on the door tears of frustration already streaming down her face.

Turning to Xiomara she walked over to her sister and nuzzled up against her whimpering at the hand they have been dealt. "Whats going to happen to us." she whispered

With their cleaning complete both of the girls went to the kitchen to work on lunch. The worked quietly in harmony with each other till all that was left to do was to have the sauce simmer for their meal.

Rosalinda sighed as she walk over to the couch and started braiding her colored locks. "Why do you think we look like this?" she asked looking back to see he twin working putting the garlic bread into the oven. "We have super powers and can bring things into existence but we look like cats." she stated in bewilderment "Why cats of all things?" she questioned and she sat down and turned on the t.v leaving it on the news.

Xio shrugged. "Since when do cats have purple hair?" Besides the tails, ears and skin changes, the girls later noticed they had two streaks of lilac in their dark hair. Their eyes changed overnight as well. The pupils elongated, giving them a more feline appearance, and their brown eyes changed to amber and blue.

"-for the fires this morning. I bring you now to the scene." The newscaster said. Xio elbowed Rosa, "turn it up."
"The scene here early this morning where this quiet neighborhood was set into panic as not one but three houses were engulfed in flames." The camera zoomed out to show the charred remains. All three houses had collapsed under the heat, the blackened skeletons stood out among the pristine suburban homes.
"The teenager, whose name is being withheld, admitted to setting the homes on fire."
"And what of the families, Steve?"
"No one was harmed in the fire. Authorities had searched for victims but it seems like all the family members made it out safely."
"That's great. So how did he start the fires."
The toaster oven dinged. "Some people are just so stupid." Xio said as she went into the kitchen.
"Well surprisingly enough nothing was found at the scene. When questioned the boy said and I quote "I didn't need anything. I am fire." He is being taken in for more questioning." In the background, two police officers were restraining a boy with spiky orange hair. He was laughing maniacally as they tried to force him into the car.
"And that's all I have on the story-" The reporter was car cut by a loud explosion. Xio rushed in to see what happened.
The camera was shaking as it zoomed into the destroyed police cruiser. The boy walked out of the flames unharmed. He smirked at the firefighters and remaining policemen. With a flick of his wrists, his palms were engulfed in fire. "Great balls of fire baby!" He unleashed a barrage of fireballs on the unprepared authorities who tried to run and dodge. A stray fireball flew to where the cameraman was hiding. The screen turned to static before it was replaced by that monotone beep and the colorful neon stripes. The newscaster looked nervous, his mouth dropped open before the news cut away to a commercial.
"Wasn't that Manny from health class?"

"Holy crap on a cracker!" she stated looking to her sister "That was Manuel. That little hornball has superpowers!" she said in shock as she leaned back and tried to take the information in "Maybe theres something in the water...." she stated as she tried to process this information. "Speaking of class.....Do you think we will ever go to school again?" she asked as she looked up at the ceiling.

Closing her eyes she tried to imagine what it would be like going back to school again. They've missed the past few weeks due to the issues in their family and illness. but just the thought of going to school the way they looked now didn't seem all that appealing "Maybe I can draw is this super gizmo that could make us look normal. Like Sailormoons transformation pen but it makes us look human!" she said with excitement

Xio chuckled as she served their lunch of penne pasta and garlic bread. "I can just see it now, by the power of the moon I'll punish you." She said mimicking Sailor Moon's movements. The front door slammed open and their mother walked in moments later with an arm full of bags. Xio watched her warily as she put down the bags and pulled out a hammer.
Ignoring the girls, their mother went around the home and nailed crucifixes on every wall. The older twin sighed, quickly ate her meal and washed the dishes. She had to turn up the volume over their mother's insistent hammering. "And here I thought it could only get better."

"You asked for me Professor?" A blue-haired teen asked. He scratched his head nervously as his matching blue eyes flitted between the telepath professor and the Canadian wild man before him. The Professor clasped his hands together and waved the teen forward.
"Yes, Kurt come in." The teen obliged and entered into the room. "Cerebro has found some new mutants out in San Diego." The Professor gestured to the map behind him.
"Ok..." Kurt didn't know why the Professor was telling him this. Usually Jean and Scott were the students called when mutants were found.
"I would like you to join Logan and I when we leave."
"Wait what? But Professor, why me?"
Logan pushed away from the wall he was leaning on. "Because bub, sometimes kids get scared and you know what they do when they're scared?" Kurt tried to avoid looking the intimidating teacher in the eye.
"They uh...go out for some ice cream?" He chuckled nervously.
"No, they either fight or they run." The light bulb flashed in Kurt's head.
"And you want me to catch whoever runs." He confirmed glancing between his teachers.
"Looks like you're learning elf. Now suit up. We leave in 20."

-20 Minutes Later-
Kurt teleported back into the hangar, donning his usual X-men gear. He tapped a button on his watch to turn on his holographic disguise. No point in scaring the new kids, he thought. He poofed into the cockpit, right behind Professor X and Logan, his tail swishing in excitement. " I wonder what their powers will be." Logan grunted at the teen's over-enthusiasm and prepped the jet for launch. "Standby." He flipped a few switches and the engine thundered in response. "Buckle up elf, I'm fixing to getting back before dinner."
The Professor was silent, his chair was already secured into place. "Watch over the children, Ororo." He sent the message to the weather witch. "Of course Charles."
Kurt teleported to his seat, the seat belts hardly contained his bouncing. "I've never been to California. Oh Evan is going to be so jealous!"
"This isn't a joy ride, bub."
"Logan, he is still a child. A bit of excitement never hurt." The Professor said with a small smile. Logan grumbled as the waterfall curtain parted, letting in natural light into cavern. The jet sped down the small runway and shot into the air.
"How long until we get there?" Kurt asked after a few moments of silence.
"A little over an hour." Professor Xavier confirmed as the jet broke the cloud barrier.

Rosalinda grumbled as she covered her ears with her hands ignoring the still new feeling to the furry appendages "Why does she have to be so loud?" she growled out her eyes giving a bit of an angry glow as she looked at her sister. When the constant banging stopped Rosa sighed as she started to relax to the sound of silence. "Finally." she started finishing her meal and taking the empty dish wear to the sink to wash them.

Xiomara turned off the T.v to enjoy the small bit of quiet as she joined her twin in the kitchen. Rosalinda looked to her and shrugged as she started scrubbing away at the dishes "Maybe she just ended to work out some frustration?" she said hopefully

"Ven pa'ca y mueve esta caja del closet! Necesito limpiar pero es muy pesao!" They heard yelled from down in the back of the house. Rosa looked over at her sister curiously "Cleaning?" she questioned as she turned off the water and grabbed her drawing book and pencils from the table as she walked to the back of the house. Xiomara followed her own book and pencil in hand as they went to the back to see what their mother wanted them to move. Their mom looked tired as she had her sleeves rolled up and a hammer in hand as she pointed out a large box in the closet.  "Get that down and out of the closet." she stated making her daughters sigh as they put there stuff down in the closet and went in reaching for the box. The moment the two were in the closet the door slammed shut behind them and clicked lock. "Now theres no escaping." their mother stated to them through the door.

At the sudden darkness Rosalinda started banging on the door "Mom...Mom!....MOM! LET ME OUT!! MAMI ABRE LA PUERTA POR FAVOR!" She yelled as she giggled the knob. Looking to the dark outline of her sister she could see the faint glow of her eyes in the dark. Feeling anger course through her she growled as she paced the small enclosed space. Not liking that she was contained in the closet she grabbed her book and from the dim light she grabbed her pencil and started to furiously sketch on her page.

"Rose.... what are you doing?" Xio asked

"She wants demons... I'll give her demons." she growled out in fury Outside she could faintly hear a moan groan and shuffle of movement but she kept drawing furiously on the page a faint Roar and the sound of braking items could be heard.

Xio's eyes widened and she shuffled deeper into the closet as the moaning grew closer. "Zombies? Why zombies?" The creature's stink lingered even after it stumbled its way down stairs. Their mother's screams were followed by more crashes and glass being broken.
"Dios mio!" Their mom was sobbing now but was drowned out by a powerful roar.
"Oh my God what if they hurt mom?" Xio turned to the shadow of her twin and shook her shoulders. "Make it stop!" Xiomara grabbed her own notebook, and poised her pencil unsure of what she wanted to do. If Rosa had powers then she should too...plus there was the incident with the neighbor's house.
'And the Lord sent an angel to shut the lion's mouth.' She wrote remembering the story of Daniel. Another roar. This time in was closer, its voice echoing from the foyer. A door slammed. There mother must have made it into the coat closet by the entrance. She was directly below them and Xio swore she could see her tear-stricken face and leaky nose.
"The closet door opened." She wrote. The door swung open.

"It's a good thing there are so many hills here." Kurt said as he looked at the undeveloped land. The scenery was mostly dirt hills spotted with a few shrubs and withered grass here and there. He turned to find his teachers waiting for him. "Oh yea right." He poofed behind them and grabbed their shoulders and teleported them closer to the potential recruits' home.
It was a nice suburban area but something was off. It sounded like someone was screaming. A shadow caught his eye as it lumbered from behind the house."Is that a bear?" He pointed incredulously at the full-grown grizzly bear. It didn't even glance at their direction before throwing its full weight at the front door.
The Professor held this head. Something was not right. "Logan." The other man nodded and lunged at the grizzly that managed to unhinge the door.
"Kurt."
"On it Professor." He disappeared in a puff of smoke.

The house was really trashed on the inside. The floor was littered with shattered glass, the curtains were ripped and all the furniture was upturned. A crunch of glass and a low growling let him know he was not alone. Kurt barely escaped as the lion pounced on the spot he had been. He studied the big cat from his perch on the stair banister. It roared and lunged for the stairs. "Whoa!" He poofed upstairs and landed on someone's bed. "And I thought the mansion was crazy."

Rosalinda was blinded when light suddenly flooded into the room. Her anger having dissipated with her drawing she grabbed a eraser and erased lines straight down the zombies.

Downstairs logan's claws slashed through the bear only to have it dissipate into a puff of coal smoke looking at his claws in confusion for a moment he saw his arm and claws were covered in a thin layer of black soot. sniffing his arm he looked to Xavier in semi shock "It's charcoal." looking towards the stairs he watched as the zombies and the lion seemed to fade away into nothing.

Hearing the sound of someone screaming in the closet he open the door only to see a frazzled woman cowering in the back of the closet a hammer in hand as her only weapon "Demonios!" she yelled holding the hammer high above her head ready to attack.

"Oi Lady! Hold up! Do ya speak english? Whats goin' on here?" he questioned holding his hands up in peace his white shirt and blue jeans made her glance him over before she got to her feet nervously holding tightly onto her hammer.

"Monsters. they came out of thin air! I locked the demons in the closet they have stolen my girls! They made the monsters appear I know it. With their devil magic!" She yelled at Logan who looked over to the professor in worry.

Upstairs Rosalinda looked to her twin her eyes looked dead "They are gone."

Kurt peeked his head into the hallway and noticed as two females stepped out of another door. They had pale grey skin and tails like him! "Hey." He waved and got closer. "You two must be the new mutants, I'm Kurt." He extended his hand. One girl glared at him.
"Who are you and why the hell are you in our house?" Her tail swished angrily. "Get out!"
"Whoa, I'm just here to help. You see I'm like you." The twins gave him disbelieving looks. "Look I'll show you." He undid the hologram and stood before them in all his blue glory.

"Mrs. Flores," the Professor began in a calming tone. "I know what you just experienced was quite a shock but I would like to discuss with you about your children and their...abilities. I own a school for gifted students like your children...do you mind stepping out of the closet? We aren't here to hurt you."
"Those things aren't my girls." She wiped her face with her sleeve. On shaky legs she climbed out of the closet. "See this?" She gestured to the destruction of the living room. "Normal girls do not do this!"
"Please Mrs. Flores, just a moment of your time is all we require."
"No! Ve te de aqui!" She grabbed a torn pillow and hugged it close to her chest. "Dios mio, por que mis hijas? Por que?" She rocked herself as she sobbed into the pillow. Cautiously he rolled his chair closer and probed her mind for the recent weeks. The girls' sickness, the loss of her husband, and the sudden manifestation of the twins' powers.
"Mrs. Flores, your daughters are exhibiting merely a mutation in their DNA. It is perfectly normal and occurs all the time. What my school offers is a sanctuary for children like yours, a safe place where they can grow to control and understand their abilities." She lifted her face and stared at the two men.
"Can you give me my daughters back? Will going to this school of yours cure them?"

Logan looked at the woman with a piercing glare "Lady I don't know what kind of thing ya have going on with yer lord." he stated signaling to all the crosses around the house "But them two girls of your's are still yer kids. There is nothing to cure because they are not sick. They have special abilities and its frightening enough having them spring up on ya. I think its a hella lot worse to have yer supposed loving mother attack ya because of them." he growled out as he started heading towards the stairs "Oi Kurt bring the girls down here!" he yelled "Fucking sick of these damn parents going crazy when their kid fucking ends up different." he growled out

Rosa stared at the blue demon in front of her in awe her ears twitching as she reached out and touched his face. "Its fuzzy." she said looking to her sister as she started to walk around him and poke at him.

"He's solid" she said as she poked at his body continuously

"Hey...Ow...Hahaha..don't that tickles...Hey OW!"Kurt yelled before he grabbed her hand with his 3 finger grip "I'm real stop poking at me." he growled staring at her with his silver eyes.

Kurt glanced towards the stairs when he heard his teacher's call. "Now this might feel a bit funny at first but you'll get used to it." He latched onto both of their wrists and teleported downstairs.

Xio coughed and waved her arms to get rid of the smoke and sulfuric smell. "What the hell was that?"
"Yea, sorry about. I can't help it really." He moved to rub the back of his head and noticed he still held Rosalinda's hand. "Uhh, sorry." He quickly dropped her hand.
"Rosalinda and Xiomara, I presume. I'm Professor Charles Xavier. I see you have already met Kurt." The blue mutant grinned. Ms. Flores was still on the couch watching the scene with a disconnected look in her eyes. "I've already spoken with your mother and I welcome you both to come join us at my school."

Xio studied the man, incredibility written all over her face.
"School? What school would want us? Look at us!"
"I am looking and all I see are two special young women. Kurt could tell you that looks are not important. You are mutants and at my school you will be surrounded with others with powers like you."
"No, we aren't leaving." Xio grabbed Rosa's hand and moved closer to the front door. "We belong here. This is our home."

"Trust me, I was scared to leave at first but the Institute is really cool." Kurt piped in. He focused on Rosa, she seemed the most in control of the two. "There are a lot of kids just like us...well not quite like us." He smiled as if sharing a secret joke.

Rosalinda looked past Charles at her mother her eyes glowing slightly out of irritation. Her mother just sat there staring off not even showing that she could see them. With every bit of irritation she felt a growl start deep in her chest and seemed to be trying to force itself from her.

Logan watched the fire in the girls eyes and the anger that seemed focused on her own mother. Sensing an altercation he stepped up blocking the girls view. "Seems you got a bit of rage." he stated breaking Rosa's focus silencing her growl. "I get it your pissed life sucks and all of that shit. But getting mad at yer mom is gonna do nothin. Suck it up." he stated gruffly making Rosa stare at him with a heated glare before she had to blink and look away.

"So you want us to go to a school with a bunch of kids like us but be part of the few who have physical disfigurements. So being different will be normal." she stated. Looking at her sister she stared blankly at her "Xio... staying home...its not any better."

Xio's ears flattened against her skull and she hugged her notebook to her chest. Her eyes flitted between her sister and the mutants. With a long stare at their mom she nodded. "You're right."
"Great!" Kurt poofed right behind them and flung his arms around their shoulders. When Xio opened her eyes they were inside their bedroom. "I figured you guys might want to pack."

The twins readied a suitcase each and then nodded at Kurt who then poofed them downstairs again. Their mom was laying on the couch now, as if in a deep sleep. Sensing their concern the professor turned towards them. "It's alright. She seemed a bit stressed. She'll be fine when she wakes up."

"Oh, wait until you two see the X-Jet! One of the perks of being an X-Men." Kurt said enthusiastically before the five of them reappeared in front of a sleek black jet that looked like something straight out of a sci-fi movie. "And here she is! The X-Jet also known as Blackbird." He smirked at their stunned expressions. "If you think this is cool wait until you see the Institute."

As they filed in, Kurt plopped down on the seat beside Rosa. "It'll take awhile to reach the mansion. So tell me? When did you find out you were mutants? And what are your powers? How did you make the bear and lion?" His eyes glittered with childish mirth.

Xio chose the seat furthest in the back. She pulled out her notebook just to shove it back into her bag. She still didn't know what triggered her powers and she didn't want to find out. She took to studying the other mutants. The Professor and the other man didn't really do a lot of talking. He was an imposing figure, like a modern-day cowboy especially with that hat. He reminded her a lot of Roland, the gunslinger from her favorite series. He piloted the huge jet with ease and they were soon airborne.

Rosa looked at him oddly "Did you know that you are very hyper....Are you this way with everyone?" she said watching him. "We found out we are...different last night...I think?" she said pausing. was it only just last night she discovered her powers and she was different. A full 24 hours can really change a person.

Kurts hit a button on his watch and suddenly looked like a normal boy again. " So you weren't born with the ears or the tail?" he asked pointing them out.

"No my sister and I... we looked different." she said as she looked out the window for a moment.

"Well describe it for me Let see if I can get a clear picture in my head. actually let me see you book and a pencil." he said and rose handed him the 2 items

"Ok... well the shape of my face is the same but I had small human ears before and I didn't have a tail. My hair never used to have these purple front locks before. My eyes used to be a honey color and my skin used to be pale but not the color of paper." she said looking at him

Kurt smiled and turned the book he was doodling in and it showed a shaded in stick figure with cat ears and a tail, a plus sign, a detailed drawing of his watch, a equal sign and finally a human girl stick figure with a happy face.

Rosalinda snickered at the drawing "You should have told me you couldn't draw." she laughed looking at the poorly done drawing. "So your saying if I get a whatever that thing is I'll look normal." she said with a raised brow

"Its a holo device while its on I look like everyone else." he said then clicked a button "When its of I'm..."

"He looks like a Blue fuzzy Elf" logan said towards the back "The professor made him the Image-Inducer so if you and your sister want one then he can make ya both one. Just know it ain't hiding yer tails so find a creative way to stow em."

"Welcome to the Xavier Institute!" Kurt said as they flew over an expansive estate.
"Whoa." Xio breathed. The Blackbird sailed towards a cliff face with a waterfall which parted leading into a hangar.
"And now for the tour." Kurt reached over to grab the twins when the Professor spoke up.
"Make sure to be on time for dinner."
"Sure thing Professor."
"Oh and before I forget, I will have your image inducers ready by tomorrow." He nodded towards the sisters with a slight smile.
Kurt didn't give them time to respond as he teleported them away. Xio stumbled, still not used to teleportation. "This is the living room." Poof. "This is the study." Poof. "This is the other study." Poof. "Here's the pool. Don't fall it." Xio felt like she was going to vomit, her motion sickness was starting to kick in from being yanked around.
"Here are the rooms." He teleported them into a long hallway. He opened the door directly next to them. It was a spacious room, and pretty much empty besides two twin beds on opposite sides of the room and two desks. The sisters had enough time to put down their suitcases before Kurt poofed them downstairs into the foyer.
Smells of chicken, corn, and potatoes rose around them. Kurt's stomach growled and his mouth was watering. He wiped his mouth with his sleeve. "Hmmm, dinner. I guess the tour will have to wait." Xio was about to protest when he poofed right in the middle of the kitchen. She cringed at the foreign eyes that stared at them in wonder. One boy, with shaved dyed blond hair, still had a chicken leg in his mouth. A perky girl with her brown hair in a pony tail was the first to react. "So like who are you guys? Kurt's relatives or something?" She eyed them up and down and then losing interest continued to fill her plate. A girl with white bangs and heavy gothic makeup glared at them and stabbed at her meal. Xio wanted to disappear right there. An older teen with flaming long red hair stood up from her seat along with a tall male with thick red sunglasses.
"Hello. I'm Jean and this is Scott." She introduced the other students as Evan, Kitty and Rogue, respectively.Welcome to the Institute."
"Ah I see you have meet our newest recruits." The Professor rolled in followed by Logan and a beautiful woman with long snow white hair. She smiled sweetly at the twins and Xio felt a sense of calmness.
"Dey arsh Rosap and Chio." Kurt said through a mouthful of mashed potatoes and chicken.
"Eww Kurt! Seriously get some manners."
"Sorry Kitty." The boy said sheepishly while rubbing his neck.

Rosa Growled at Kurt as she stomped over to him and started poking him in the chest "Santa maria madre de Dios. Nunca jamas! Malditasea desde tu maldita orejas de duende hasta tu maldita cola de diablo. Y cerrera tu maldita boca eres un puerco aqueroso!" she yelled before turning around grabbing her sisters arm and started pulling her to the far side of the table away from people.

Logan scoffed as he leaned against the wall "Let me guess Kurt. Ya pulled em all over the mansion then didn't prep em before pullin em in here." He stated as he glared at him "Bub ya need to learn how ta deal with women." he stated as he stood up straight and moved to sit in the available seats near the girls.

Rosa glowered at all the stares she and her twin were receiving "QUE?!" she yelled over at them only to have them look away murmuring about her being rude. "The only ones being rude are you staring bitches she growled under her breath as she filled her plate. Seeing some sweet rolls a little farther down the table she grumbled as she tried to reach over only to have it too far away.

"Ask an ya shall receive Princess." Logan stated watching her leaning back with a bit of a smirk.

"Puedes pasar el pan por favor?"she asked only to have logan raise a brow before reaching for the bread.

"This what ya want?"

"Pan pro favor....Bread please." she said nodding

"There we go was that so hard?" Logan said with a smirk as he looked around the table.

Jean was ready to excuse herself from the table when she heard the Professor's voice in her head.
'They are new. Give them time.'
'We all had to go through the same situation, but that doesn't give them the right to be so bit....snappy.' The redhead glared down the table.
'Their situation was unique. Don't be too hard on them.'
'No promises.' She stood from the table. "Come on Scott we have that project for psych." He grimaced as if he had wanted to forget that. Jean placed a finger to her forehead and moved their plates to the sink.

Kurt kept glancing over Kitty's shoulder at the twins and whispered behind his hand. "So umm did you get any of that? What was she saying?"
"That you're an annoying fur ball with the table manners of a pig."
"Whoa Rogue since when do you speak Spanish?" Kitty asked. She usually made excuses not to talk to her moody roommate but maybe she was interesting under all that angst.
"How about you try paying attention in class." Rogue scoffed and excused herself as well. The dining room elapsed into an uncomfortable silence.

Xio tried to shrink into her chair. She glanced at the older male across the table and finally worked up her courage. "I-is it always like this?" She asked regarding the hostility and overall indifference the other students radiated.

Logan looked over at Xio and sighed as he put down a chicken leg "Not always. These kids have it a bit easy now. They got used to their powers already and have a luxury ya don't. They look normal and can pass as normal. You, yer sister, Kurt, Marie, even Scott. You five don't have it as easy as the rest of em ya need to work a lot harder and hide a hell of a lot more." He stated "Those kids have forgotten what its like being a new kid with a secret. They forgot what its like being scared that they suddenly have powers they didn't have the night before."

Rosalinda nodded and she started poking at her food. She wasn't happy at all and the look showed.

"Kid don't take it so personal ya need to let go of whatever is eattin ya and relax alrigh'" Logan stated "Being pissed at everyone else ain't going to change nuttin. All its gonna do is isolate ya and make ya bitter. take it from someone who knows." Logan said as he dipped his chicken leg in his mash potatoes and then took a bite.

Rosalinda nodded as she looked over and her sister with tired eyes. Turning back to her dinner she took a few more bites before siding her plate away from her. She crossed her arms and laid her head down on the table.

Xio placed a hand on her sister's shoulder and addressed the rest of the group. "It's been a long day." She stood and pulled her sister with her. "Please excuse us." The Professor nodded.
"Tomorrow I'll go and file for your transfer to Bayville High but for now go ahead and rest. You both have been through a lot."

Kurt gathered his and Kitty's dirty plates and dropped them into the sink. "Want me to-"
"No." The twins said in unison. The blue mutant looked visibly deflated as the sisters left.
"So smooth Kurt." Kitty glared at the retreating figures.
"I wasn't trying to be smooth, I was trying to be helpful."
"Oh so that's what they're calling it now?" She stormed off in a huff leaving a confused half-demon.
"Who's they? Kitty?"

Once the children were gone Ororo put down her utensils and placed her hands in her lap. "That was an interesting evening."
"Quite but tomorrow is another day." Charles said.

It took Xio about 10 minutes of wandering up and down the hallways to realize she didn't know where they were. All the doors looked the same. Maybe they shouldn't have turned down Kurt's help. "Crap." She muttered and turned a corner.
